Ceremony

Where is the ceremony?

The Dominion Arboretum, a large forested area between Prince of Wales Drive and Dow's Lake in Ottawa. Please note the location is not immediately car-accessible and will require parking and walking to reach. Please arrive 15-20 minutes before 2:00.

Will the reception be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will be outdoors in a glade at the Arboretum. There is no shelter structure.

How can I get there?

On foot - Located close the Little Italy neighbourhood, accessible via pathways from Preston Street and Prince of Wales Drive.

By transit - Carling O-Train station, and the south on foot via Preston to the pathways leading to the Arboretum beside Dow's Lake.

By car - Several nearby parking lots. See image below.

Where can I park?

There is limited parking in several nearby lots and along the shoulders of Prince of Wales Drive where not prohibited. See image below and Google Maps.

Are there washrooms?

There are no washrooms located immediately in the Arboretum. The nearest publicly-accessible washrooms are located at the parking area just east of Prince of Wales, at the Dow's Lake Pavilion, and at the Parks Canada lockhouse south at Hartwell Locks. See images below.

Will there be seating?

There will not be seating for most attendees as it is prohibited by the Arboretum's stewards. Limited seating for persons with physical needs can be provided. Please let us know in advance.

How accessible is the site?

The Arboretum is principally gravel paths. Reaching the ceremony site from any parking or sidewalk will require a walk of several hundred meters with gentle slopes.

What if it rains?

We will proceed with the ceremony rain or shine. We invite you to join us depending on your level of comfort with the weather when the day arrives.

What is the expected dress code?

Please join us however you are most comfortable. The ceremony will be outdoors in June and may be hot, the reception will be indoors and may be cooler. We hope you'll dress in a way that will make you best enjoy the day.

Reception

When and where is the reception?

The Happy Goat Coffee shop on Laurel Street. This cute and quirky venue is a favorite of ours from when we first moved to Ottawa. It's a coffee shop, pub, and music/event venue.

Cocktail hour begins at 5:00.

Dinner begins at 6:00.

I have a dietary restriction

Please indicate your dietary restriction on your RSVP. We've selected options that we hope will accommodate all, and will do our best to make everyone welcome.

How accessible is the venue?

There is wheelchair-accessible parking, entrance, seating at tables, washrooms, and access to the venue. If you have specific accessibility needs please let us know.

Will there be space for children?

The space is a café and restaurant that is suitable for kids, but there will not be a dedicated room or supervisory area.

When does the reception end?

Our reservation of the space lasts until 11:00. If you're still feeling lively after that the city has much more to enjoy!
